The Intercontinental Connection of Journalists (ICJ) proudly joins UNESCO MIL Alliance in marking Global Media and Information Literacy Week 2026, held from October 24. to 31. This year’s theme, “We All Play a Part”, highlights the shared responsibility of societies worldwide in defending democracy and strengthening trust in information.
ICJ emphasizes that media literacy is not only about regulations or theory — it is about diplomacy on the streets, education in communities, and the will of the people. In an era of digital violence and disinformation, the ability to verify facts and engage in responsible communication has become a cornerstone of democratic resilience.
Through dialogue, persistence, and peaceful civic action, ICJ demonstrates that cultural and civilized approaches can overcome repression without violence. This contribution reflects the organization’s mission to build an international infrastructure for journalism and to protect press freedom through informed, diplomatic engagement.
Global MIL Week 2026 unites journalists, educators, and citizens across continents, reinforcing the idea that media and information literacy is a global necessity — and that we all play a part.
